In the oldest historic building, In Launceston, Tasmania, you will find The Brisbane Street Art School and Leoni Duff Art Gallery. 

From the studio’s grand Victorian balcony above the city streets, you may observe below the gentle bustle of the life of Launceston, a small provincial city with a thriving arts community on the Island of Tasmania. 

The main studio is a light-filled open space with the feeling of another time, another world… reminiscent of the classical ateliers of Europe. Visitors are surprised by this hidden sanctuary of quiet and beauty in a busy world. 

Since 2008, Leoni Duff has operated from this studio, working in her own professional arts practice and operating the Brisbane Street Art School.  The School has developed into an active, energetic and exciting arts space promoting the growth and development of the arts community in Tasmania, Australia and Internationally.

In her studio Leoni and her colleagues conduct regular weekly drawing and painting classes. The other studio spaces have become a hub for artists to meet and grow in their skills each week. Also periodically, Leoni teaches extra 3-5 day Masterclass Workshops for visiting artists who wish to have the opportunity to focus on a particular area of artistic development.

Part of the yearly programme includes the hosting of four Master Workshops, inviting excellent tutors in all mediums and genre; both national and International, to the studio to conduct specialist workshops. Artists of all levels of skill have the opportunity to study under the best artists and teachers available in the world. Some of these invited teachers are now regular visitors to the School conducting intensive courses for extended periods during the year.

Over recent years, Leoni has conducted many Artists Culture and Study Tours overseas. Her focus on these art tours is growth in knowledge through study of Art History and historic painting practice. Through experiencing the music, the culture, the large European collections and small galleries, studying the techniques of the Masters and applying this insight to their own practice, artists gain a wealth of inspiration for growth and development … whilst also enjoying the experience of painting on location in some of the most beautiful places in the world.

For those who would like to join our on-line studio , you will be able to access regular tuition and also focused tutorials by Leoni Duff and her guest artists/teachers.
